Winter TAG Con closes out Winter Reading Program
Join us for Winter TAG Con 2025, Round Rock Public Library’s second Tabletop Adventure Gaming mini convention! Patrons are invited to come play a variety of tabletop role-playing games (such as Dungeons & Dragons) in a shared, multi-table setting. This event takes place over two afternoons, Friday, Jan. 3, and Saturday, Jan. 4. This will be a convention-like atmosphere; children sensitive to loud sounds or aggressive pantomimed actions may not be suited for this event. All game masters for the Friday event are either library staff or registered volunteers who’ve passed background checks.
DAY ONE
Friday, Jan. 3 will be dedicated to younger players, ages 10-13. Space is very limited: once a table is full, later arrivals must either choose a different game or wait until the next TAGCon!
Here’s the agenda:
1:00 – 1:30 p.m.: Check-In and Game Sign-up/Character Selection
1:30 – 5:00 p.m.: First game sessions begin and end
There will be four different games offered:
- Dungeon and Dragons, 5th edition (two tables)
- TSR’s Marvel Super-Heroes
- 1st ed. AD&D
All these games chosen were published for ages 10 and up, but not every child is suited for every game. TTRPGs feature simulated combat and battle, and mild descriptions of violence will occur.
PLEASE NOTE: Parents of attending children MUST remain in the library during the game session, and will be called upon to deal with any behavior issues immediately. Children younger than 10 may not sit at the game tables, as they can easily disrupt gameplay. Players are of course welcome to leave the games early, but will not be monitored in any way once they’ve left.
DAY TWO
Saturday, Jan. 4 will be dedicated to teen and adult players, ages 14+. There will be one long afternoon session for each game offered, with a short snack break in the middle. A mix of all ages will play at each table.
Here’s the agenda:
1:00 – 1:30 pm: Sign-up & registration/Character selection, Q&A session with the game masters to decide on which table you want.
1:30 – 3:00 pm: Sessions begin
3:00 – 3:30 pm: Short snack break
3:30 – 5:00 pm: Session wrap-up and golden ticket prize given
There will be 5-6 different games offered:
- Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition (3 tables)
- TSR’s Marvel Super-Heroes
- Original D&D – (White box edition)
- 1st ed. AD&D
All game masters reserve the right to dismiss any unruly, rude, or disruptive player of any age. Please see our attached Code of Conduct for more details. Rules of Conduct
Other Considerations:
- Costumes, (aka Cosplay) are welcome, but please no weapons, fake or otherwise
- The Friday event will not require online pre-registration as our first TAGCon revealed this as an unnecessary complication. However, once all the spots are filled, later arrivals will be turned away.
- The Saturday event will also have limited seating, and tickets will be given out for a full hour before the game sessions begin. Hold on to your ticket, as one lucky prize winner will be announced at 5 pm to receive the Golden D20.
